IPF in China
At IPF we are now able to offer investigative and enforcement support in China through strategic partnerships. We are able to provide local resources with the necessary knowledge and skills to carry out our instructions, provide intelligence, recover evidence and advise on effective strategy across the region.
Furthermore we are pleased to promote the China IPR SME help desk www.china-IPRhelpdesk.eu. The China Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) SME Helpdesk was launched in May 2008 to support European SMEs in the protection and enforcement of their intellectual property rights in relation to China business. The Helpdesk is funded by the Directorate-General for Enterprise and Industry of the European Commission and complements existing EU-China joint initiatives on IPR. It provides free information, first line advice and training for SMEs to help with their decision-making.
This initiative was launched in response to the need of European SMEs for jargon-free practical help on IP issues. It also offers support to those European SMEs already encountering issues of IPR enforcement in China by providing practical on-the-ground orientation.
Despite common misconceptions China is a place where you can take effective IP action. There has been a huge increase in domestic trademark and patent registration since 2002 and Customs seizures across China compare favourably with seizures throughout the whole of the EU.
